Military-Connected Welcome and Commitment

We welcome and support military-connected students and families.

Cherry Elementary proudly welcomes military-connected students and their families. We recognize the unique challenges and strengths that come with military life — frequent moves, deployments, and transitions — and we’re committed to providing compassionate support, smooth enrollment and registration, academic continuity, and resources to help every child thrive. We strive to partner with families, staff, and local military services to ensure a caring, stable school experience and to celebrate the resilience and service of our military community. Resolution to Declare Commitment to Military Families

Whereas, military families make extraordinary sacrifices in service to our nation, often experiencing frequent relocations, extended separations, and transitions that impact the entire family;

Whereas, military-connected students face unique academic and social-emotional challenges, including enrolling in new schools, adapting to new curricula, building new peer relationships, and navigating deployment-related stressors;

Whereas, Cherry Elementary recognizes its responsibility to ensure a smooth transition and a supportive educational environment for every student, including those connected to our armed forces;

Therefore, be it resolved that:

We, Cherry Elementary, hereby affirm our steadfast commitment to supporting military-connected students and their families. We proudly recognize and honor the dedication, resilience, and sacrifice demonstrated by those who serve our country.

We will foster a welcoming, inclusive campus culture where military families feel valued, respected, and connected from the moment they enroll.

We will provide intentional academic, social, and emotional supports tailored to the needs of military-connected students, including transition assistance, counseling resources, and staff training focused on military culture and the impact of mobility and deployment.

We will collaborate with district personnel, military school liaisons, and community partners to strengthen access to resources and ensure continuity of services for military families.

We will promote awareness and appreciation of military service through campus initiatives, events, and educational opportunities that cultivate empathy, understanding, and gratitude within our school community.

We will continuously review and refine our practices to ensure that our support systems effectively meet the evolving needs of military-connected students and their families, maintaining our commitment to excellence in service and care.
